James D. Fant, Chief Investment Officer, Behringer Harvard Opportunity Advisors II LP
James D. Fant serves as chief investment officer of Behringer Harvard Opportunity Advisors II LP and has more than 20 years of experience in the commercial real estate industry. Mr. Fantis responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and closing equity and debt investments across all asset classes for Behringer Harvard's opportunity-focused investment programs. Prior to joining Behringer Harvard, Mr. Fant served as vice president of acquisitions for the pension advisory firm Kennedy Associates. From 1983 to 1998, Mr. Fant served in multiple capacities for MEPC American Properties, including senior vice president. Mr. Fant is a certified public accountant and is a licensed real estate agent. He received a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the University of Texas at Arlington.
Richard K. Frank, Senior Vice President – Hotel Acquisitions and Asset Management
Rick Frank is a senior vice president of Behringer Harvard overseeing the hotel group. He has more than 25 years of experience in the hospitality sector. Prior to joining Behringer Harvard in August 2006, Mr. Frank was a vice president in AEW’s Hospitality Group, responsible for investment origination and asset management activities. The majority of his hotel operational experience was gained at ITT Sheraton (later becoming Starwood), first in senior financial positions and later in operations, managing large convention hotels.
Mr. Frank began his career at Arthur Andersen, specializing in the real estate and hospitality industries. A graduate of Cornell University’s School of Hotel Administration, he also holds an MBA from Fordham University.
Robert T. Poynter, Senior Vice President/Chief Investment Officer – Multifamily
Bob Poynter is the senior vice president and chief investment officer of multifamily of our advisor. Mr. Poynter is responsible for reviewing and improving existing policies regarding the multifamily investment and acquisition process for Behringer Harvard and for developing best practices for the multifamily group. In this capacity Mr. Poynter also is responsible for sourcing, underwriting, and administering the multifamily investment and acquisition process for Behringer Harvard.
From October 1983 to September 2006, Mr. Poynter was employed by JPI, a multifamily development and acquisition company. Mr. Poynter was a senior vice president of several different JPI-affiliated entities and served as the Strategic Recapitalization Services Partner. During that time, Mr. Poynter worked on condominium and home sales, corporate housing, third party property management services, and acquisitions. Mr. Poynter also was involved in numerous disposition transactions for JPI with an aggregate value of approximately $2.2 billion. Mr. Poynter is a licensed real estate broker in the state of Texas. Mr. Poynter received a Bachelor of Science degree from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
Chad Jackson, Vice President, Acquisitions and Investments – Multifamily
Chad Jackson is a vice president of multifamily acquisitions and investments for Behringer Harvard. He is responsible for sourcing and evaluating multifamily real estate acquisitions and development opportunities for Behringer Harvard Multifamily REIT I, Inc. in major cites in Texas and the Southeast. Mr. Jackson joined Behringer Harvard in May 2004 as an acquisition analyst, and his duties included sourcing and evaluating commercial real estate acquisitions for Behringer Harvard REIT I, Inc. From November 2002 until May 2004, Mr. Jackson was a loan officer with Wells Fargo Bank in the real estate group.
For most of 2002, Mr. Jackson was a credit analyst with Colonial Bank in its real estate group. Mr. Jackson received a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Southern Methodist University.
Larry Sloan, Senior Vice President, Acquisitions and Investments – Multifamily
Larry Sloan is a senior vice president of multifamily acquisitions and investments for Behringer Harvard. He is responsible for sourcing and evaluating real estate acquisitions, developments, and recapitalization opportunities for Behringer Harvard Multifamily REIT I, Inc. Mr. Sloan joined Behringer Harvard in July 2007 after spending nine years in the commercial real estate industry with the Archon Group. In his most recent position with Archon, Mr. Sloan served as acquisitions manager responsible for sourcing opportunities on behalf of the Whitehall Street Real Estate funds and their sponsor, Goldman Sachs.
Mr. Sloan holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Texas A&M University, a CCIM designation, and is a licensed real estate agent in the State of Texas.
Jon Bader, Vice President, Acquisitions and Investments – Multifamily
Jon Bader is a vice president of multifamily acquisitions and investments for Behringer Harvard. He is responsible for sourcing and evaluating real estate investment opportunities for Multifamily REIT I. Prior to joining Behringer Harvard in 2006, Mr. Bader was director of land acquisitions at D.R. Horton, Inc. His responsibilities included sourcing and evaluating land acquisition opportunities for residential developments, negotiating contracts, due diligence, and closings.
Mr. Bader holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
Robert Hodge, Vice President, Acquisitions and Investments – Multifamily
Robert Hodge is a vice president of multifamily acquisitions and investments for Behringer Harvard. He is responsible for all acquisition activity in the Northeastern United States and Chicago for Behringer Harvard Multifamily REIT I, Inc. From 2002 to 2006, Mr. Hodge was a senior development associate and analyst for FaulknerUSA, a national real estate developer with a focus on hotel and residential property types. His responsibilities there included performing financial analysis and coordinating all aspects of the development process.
Mr. Hodge received Bachelor of Arts degrees in history and political science from Williams College. He also holds a Master of Business Administration degree from St. Edwards University.
